He Saw What I Could Be

"Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them to become what they are capable of being."
By: Goethe

When I read this quote it brought to my memory the song my pastor sings, "HE SAW WHAT I COULD BE". When Jesus looked upon us, when we were yet sinners, He truly looked at us as we ought to be and not as we were and then He helped us to become what we are capable of being.

But he saw not what I was, He saw what I could be
When he reached his hand to where I was
He took a chance on me
For all he had to hope for, Was just a possibility
Still he saw not what I was, He saw what I could be

Thank you Jesus, for looking beyond what I was and seeing a possibility. Thank you for taking a chance on someone like me. Thank you for seeing what I could be and for making me what I am today. For all that I am is because of you. Now in return, I want to reach out to others and see them as you see them. I want to treat them as if they were what they ought to be and help them to become what they are capable of being by leading them to you Lord. I want to look beyond what they are and see what they could be in you.

I am right there with you. I couldn't agree more. When GOD found me, I didn't think there was much hope. With faith, the size of a mustard seed ,HE, knew what I could be.

PS Thanks for lending your Pastor on Sunday night, we had a great service. :-)

Beautiful post, Jolene. I'm so thankful that God saw not just who I was, but who I could become too. I want to learn to see people more in the way that God sees them too.

Thanks Sis. Allard. It has been way to long since I have given a home bible study that I am ashamed of myself. My girls were just talking about the bible studies I use to give and about the one I gave in Sunday School one year. It was awesome. I had four young girls from the bus ministry get the Holy Ghost that year.

Alice, without God there is no hope for any of us. But with Christ, NOTHING is impossible. He just blows me away sometimes. He never ceases to amaze me that's for sure.

Isn't my pastor an awesome speaker? But then again so is yours. I have enjoyed Bro Pryor on many occasions. I would say that we are two blessed ladies to have such wonderful men and women as we do for pastors and pastor's wives in our lives. Don't you agree?

Carol, It is a good thing He didn't look at who and what I was or He would have passed me by. I am glad He looked beyond all of that and saw what I could be. Thank you Jesus for the blood that washes white as snow.

I love the title of this post. It is what keeps me going. He still sees what I could be. I have come a long way... but still have so far to go. Thank you for a wonderful post!

Rochelle, Isn't that the truth. There is always room for improvement in our lives. There's a song that goes, He's still working on me, To make me what I ought to be. It took Him just a week to make the moon and the stars, the sun and the earth, and jupiter and mars. How loving and patient He must be cause He still working on me.

It is a great song and one of my favorites also. Hope you have a wonderful turkey day. Love you too Bonzi. Tell everyone hi for me. Sure miss all of you. Maybe next time your mom goes to Arkansas I will be able to make the trip with her. Wouldn't that be fun?

Good morning Jolene:
Your choice of a song has or is troubling to myself. I have spent many hours with a cup of coffee, a sun rise or set and a pad and pen listing situations where I feel I missed the mark. The words of the song go, “But he saw not what I was, He saw what I could be,” How much, how far, you choice the method of measure, have I missed being, “He saw what I could be.” Am I anywhere near/close to this bench mark? Sunday night Bro. Dennis Burgess preached the unfinished towers. Is the landscape of my life filled with, “unfinished towers.” Yes, Jolene I have spent much time looking back over my life wondering just how many unfinished tower, have I left that are the mark of Mervi not being able to, “be what He saw I could be.”
Oh but I to have thank Him for me being able these unfinished towers under His blood and keep on trying.

God bless you and yours;
Mervi

Mervi, That is the good thing about God. When we see where we have messed up, then we are able to get up clean up our act and start again. As long as we are willing to let Him put us on the potter's wheel and work on us and make us what we ought to be in Him then He can make us as He see us to be. None of are perfect and never will be until we make it to Glory land. We just have to be like David in Psalm 51:10 and say, "Create in me a clean heart , O God; and renew a right spirit within me." and start anew.

Mervi, Thanks for your concern. I have been under the weather for about 3 weeks now. I had the flu and it turned into bronchitis. I went to the doctor last Wednesday and he gave me two shots and put me on meds. I didn't get any better so I went back to the doctor yesterday and he told me that now I have pnuemonia. He wanted to put me in the hospital but I refuse to spend my b-day (which is tomorrow) in the hospital so I said NO! I am at home (suppose to be in total bed rest) on meds trying to recoop. I will get better and will return to blogville soon.
