I pulled into the school parking lot to drop Caleb off this morning. He asked me if he was going to get to see his counselor this afternoon. I explained that he saw him yesterday so he won't see him until next Monday. Then Caleb says "Grandma, is papa my granddaddy or my daddy?" I told him of course that papa is his granddaddy. Caleb then expresses for the first time that he wishes he had a dad.
My daughter is single. She works full time with Special Ed children, does Foster Care, and adopted Caleb. She has never met Mr. Right. I told Caleb that if he wanted a dad then he needed to pray about it. Tell Jesus that he wants a good Christian dad. A dad that will love him and his mom like a Christian is suppose to love his family. A dad that will take them places and do things with them. Tell Jesus you want a dad that will teach you all about the things of God and will pray with you like a Christian dad does. Caleb then replies; "I WISH I WAS A CHRISTIAN."
My heart melted right there on the spot. Tears were instantly running down my face. I wanted to crawl over the seat and gather him into my arms and pray for him to become a Christian right then and there. I told Caleb that he could be a Christian. I told him he had to obey Acts 2:38. The bell rang at that time and he had to go to class. All I wanted to do was take him home and give him the story of salvation. When I picked him up from school and we returned to the house he started up with more questions about being a Christian. So we snuggled on the couch and I began answering those wonderful questions.
Lord, let that desire to be a Christian continue to grow in Caleb's heart. Don't ever let it wither away. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Oh what a beautiful post, Jolene. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes. What a wonderful opportunity to plant those seeds of faith in Caleb's tender young heart! I'm sure he sees something in you and your daughter that would make him want to be a Christian. I look forward to hearing about the day when Caleb becomes a parktaker of this great salvation. I'll keep him in my prayers.
Sis. Connell, Caleb recently moved to a new Sunday School classroom due to his age. It took us forever to convince him to go to his new classroom. Changes for him is not an easy thing due to his disabilities. It was Easter Sunday when he finally went. He absolutely loves it and his teachers. They get points for bringing their bible, offering, knowing their bible verse, bringing a visitor and I don't know what else.
Sis. Barbara has won Caleb's heart and he can tell you what the lesson was about every Sunday. Ever since he has been in her class he has drug out all of his bible story books off of his book case and he reads them over and over again. Believe it or not but before her class he would not let us read these stories to him.
Sis. Karen Harding was here this past Sunday evening and she said if anyone needed a healing to come up front. My daughter took Caleb up front and there were others that went as well. I believe that Kerrie's faith reached out to God that night and I already see the hand of God moving in Caleb's little life. Yes, I see miracles taking place where Caleb is concerned. I will let you know as soon as he becomes a partaker. Thanks for keeping him in your prayers.
I had to get up and find tissue before I could comment. What a tender moment. I am so glad that Caleb has the love of your family and I pray that He will feel the love of the Father in those moments of needing a dad.
Rochelle, A tender moment indeed. I cried tears of joy off and on all day. Even today Caleb is still talking about becoming a Christian. He started to throw one of his fits and then he turned around and said, "Oh, sorry grandma, Christians don't do that huh?" I hugged him and said; "That's right Caleb, you are going to make a great Christian. Jesus is going to be really proud of you." He smiled and ran out onto the patio to play. He's headed in the right direction.
Jolene, What a lovely post and what a beautiful child Caleb is. Because we love people into becoming Christians, Caleb will make a fine one.

I miss having Caleb in Sunday School, but when I poked my head in sis. Barbara's class and saw Caleb in the class SMILING and having a great time... I was amazed and oh so very happy!!! The kids really hate to leave Sis. Janey's class, but once they go to Sis. Barbara's they really enjoy it. Caleb is growing up! I really can't believe it. When I look at Daniel, Awna, Azai, and Caleb I am just amazed at how different these children are from the time they were brought to church until today.
Caleb's desire to become a Christian, makes me want to tell Bro. Robert to design a Kids Church theme revolving around The Plan of Salvation. Caleb, the best decision you can make is to become a Christian!! :o)
Oh, and Kerri (Ive gotta brush up on my spelling of her name!) I won't tell your mom about your spirit of speeding anymore. Haaa!!

Chandra, Caleb's love for you and Sis. Janey's class was so strong that I thought we would never get him into Sis. Barbara's classroom. I'm just thankful that you are involved with kid's church and Caleb gets to be with you then.
The plan of salvation for a theme for kids church sounds like a great idea to me. Go for it. Our children need to hear it . I believe they are more than ready for it as well.
It is a miracle what God is doing in the lives of Daniel, Awna, Azai, Caleb and Sis. Loraine's two children that she adopted. These 6 children had such messed up little lives until God brought them here and gave them each a family that loves them. Watching them reminds me of the song that Bryce sings, "When God Unfolds The Rose."
He is making something beautiful of their lilttle lives isn't He?

When you talked about this at prayer meeting the other night, my heart was so touched I had tears. He is such a charming little chap.
I will tell you Sis. Allard, it was really hard to keep from just turning that car around and taking him home with me that day. I did not want to let him go.
